During the weekend of 21-22 July 2012, a Flower Festival was held in the church to celebrate the Feast Day for St Mary Magdalene. The last festival of flowers was held in 1982 and the inspiration for this one was the poems written by well known local farmer John Osborne. He, like his father before, farmed in Weston all his life and now his son continues the tradition.
In addition to his love of the land John was always passionate about singing and poetry. At the age of 80 he published his final poetry book. However, a year later his 15th appeared – with the title Never say Never…! Extracts from his poems provided the ideas for the floral arrangements which filled the church.
